The Best Places to Elope in Zion National Park

Dreaming of a Zion National Park elopement that feels calm, connected, and completely you? You’re in the right place. Zion is one of the most breathtaking elopement destinations in the U.S.; with its dramatic red cliffs, winding rivers, and golden light, it’s no wonder couples travel from around the world to say their vows here.

But here’s what most couples don’t realize: wedding ceremonies inside Zion are only allowed at specific, approved locations. You can’t just wander off to any overlook or trail to exchange vows—and that’s exactly where having a local Zion elopement photographer and guide makes all the difference.

This guide breaks down the best ceremony and portrait locations for eloping in Zion National Park, along with insider tips to help you plan a seamless, stress-free experience.

Approved Ceremony Locations in Zion National Park

If you want to legally exchange vows inside the park, you’ll need a Special Use Permit and must choose from the National Park Service’s approved list below.

1. Temple of Sinawava

A riverside ceremony spot at the end of Zion’s scenic drive. Towering cliffs and the Virgin River make this one of the most iconic backdrops for a Zion elopement ceremony. Max 35 guests.

2. Menu Falls

A cozy + peaceful waterfall backdrop just a short walk from the road, where you can hear nearby water rushing as you say your vows. Perfect for intimate elopements with up to 10 guests.

3. Zion Lodge Lawn

This is a wide grassy area framed by red cliffs ideal for couples bringing family, up to 75 guests. Absolutely stunning, yet accessible, with that classic Zion view!!

4. Nature Center North Lawn (November–April Only)

Available seasonally between November and April. Max 50 guests. Beautiful views of the Watchman and soft winter light. This is a perfect spot for off-season elopements when the park is a little less busy.

5. South Campground Amphitheater

Rustic benches and a built-in ceremony space. Max 100 guests. Great for couples who want a slightly bigger “micro-wedding” feel while staying in the park.

6. Timber Creek Overlook (Kolob Canyons Section)

Located in the quieter northwest section of Zion. Amazing cliffside views + you can have max 20 guests. One of the most private, underrated places to elope in Zion!!! See the gorgeous photo below for inspo! ◡̈

Even if you can’t legally say your vows here, these are incredible spots for photos before or after your ceremony:

  • Canyon Overlook Trail – Iconic sunrise views and golden light.
  • Watchman Trail – Overlooks the valley with stunning mountain layers.
  • The Narrows – Adventurous and intimate portraits right in the river.
